See that art, feel the art and be the art! If you ever dreamt of stepping into a painting, this is the perfect outing for you! After a year of closures and no in-person, art-going or cultural events to attend, Immersive Van Gogh is a great and indulgent way to delve into cultural life again!

Immersive Van Gogh, a virtual reality art exhibit by Lighthouse Immersive features over 300 pieces of art by Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. It uses the artist’s thoughts to drive and move you through three dimensional animations of his vast body of work.

Iconic pieces such as “The Starry Night†and “Sunflowers†paintings come to life interspersing light and darkness, colors, swirls, landscapes, and transitions that exhilarates and stimulates the senses, giving the viewer a new appreciation of the beauty of Van Gogh’s art in 360 degrees!

By combining computer animation, a soaring symphonic score by Luca Longobardi and 40 projectors mounted on the ceiling, the gorgeous post-impressionist paintings are beautifully splashed across the walls that stretch from floor to ceiling of the former Fillmore West Ballroom. This larger-than-life way to see art – by incorporating technology, enhances the images but doesn’t take away from the beauty of Van Gogh’s art. Perhaps in a post-pandemic world, the engagement and “immersion†we see with this exhibit will be how we will see art in the future. And yes, while viewing the exhibit, I did feel like I had my own “Emily In Paris†moment!

The exhibit is Covid-19 friendly as organizers have taken every precaution to keep you safe such as social distancing circles in the main exhibit room, 6 feet apart social distancing placards on the floor while you wait to get inside, and hand sanitizers placed throughout.

The hype is real and so worth it. Due to popular demand, Immersive Van Gogh San Francisco has been extended to September 6.and tickets can be purchased at vangoghsf.com.
