Three years ago, when our founder decided to create News UpNOW, a new digital TV, he thought – and still thinks – that EDUCATION and ARTS go well with NEWS. Through education, people receive the tools to build a better future, both for themselves and for the wider world. Through the arts, these tools take form in expression, creation and communication with others. Both can change the world, especially when associated with the news.
News UpNOW is committed to producing local, national and international news, with focus on the Bay Area, highlighting issues in education and arts, local artists and art organizations, as well as broader coverage of issues in health, politics, economy, business and beyond.
Our News UpNOW reporters cover stories in three languages, English, Portuguese and Spanish. And our contributors and columnists express their opinions on current topics. Real stories. Real-time. Talented people.
Our Mission
Our mission is to produce stories in English, Portuguese and Spanish with focus on the Bay Area.
In addition to having our reporters out there producing stories on the arts and entertainment, and bringing the latest news, NewUpNOW wants to do more for our community.
Through our “Project Education” program we offer high school students the opportunity to learn how to film, research, interview, edit and post a story, showing them what goes on behind the cameras and how reporters get their stories out there.
We are committed to bringing the studio to the classroom and working together. Our team will offer training to students who are interested in learning the business of broadcasting.
If you know of a school that wants to be part of our “Project Education”, please email us at: tips@newsupnow.org. Write “Project Education” in the subject heading.
