The Mill Valley Film Festival is celebrating its 47th year, showcasing an impressive lineup of 129 films from 40 countries, including 77 premieres. Notably, over half of the films are directed or co-directed by women or non-binary filmmakers. The festival is taking place at various venues, including the Sequoia Cinema in Mill Valley, the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, and the Lark Theater in Larkspur. There are also exclusive screenings at the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive. Mark Fishkin, the festival director, mentioned exciting plans for the future, including renovations for the Sequoia Theater, promising an even bigger festival ahead. Gleidson Martins reports.
